We’re making plans for the 25-acres of land we purchased in Union Township in 2013. The new facility near Rt. 32, off I-275 will combine Cincinnati Children’s Anderson and Eastgate to better serve patients and families of the area close to home and with expanded services. A steering team has been formed to engage staff and oversee the design and construction of the estimated $35 million building. The anticipated completion of construction is 2023.

The new site sits between our existing facilities, roughly five miles from Anderson and two miles from Eastgate. Currently, only 31 percent of our families living on the eastside get seen at these locations. Our goal is to improve our close-to-home rate to 56 percent when the new facility opens.

Serving families close to where they live is a huge satisfier and a major driver of our patient-centered and consumer-driven Ambulatory strategy, according to Patty Manning, MD, chief of staff. “We’ve been asking: ‘Who are we serving close to home? How well are we doing that across our system? And, how well are we doing it for the most highly demanded divisions?” said Patty. “We know lots of people come to Burnet, but we know there is lots more we can do out where people live. ”The planned facility will maintain our existing services and allow us to grow key programs, including mental health with a partial hospitalization program.
