Concerns with Infant Motor Skills?  We can Help!

The Infant Motor Evaluation Clinic (IMEC) is designed to provide a one-stop comprehensive evaluation for young children.  This clinic was developed to foster early diagnosis of cerebral palsy (or ‘high risk of CP’) because recent evidence has demonstrated

·         CP specific intervention improves motor and cognitive outcomes for children

·         Early monitoring and treatment prevents complications of CP

·         Families benefit from early diagnosis, intervention, and support

Referrals are welcome for any child under the age of 2 with motor concerns (such as head lag at 4 months, not sitting at 9 months, or a hand preference prior to 24 months) and for whom a diagnosis of CP might be considered.  For children who are followed in CCHMC outpatient OTPT, referring providers may also be contacted by the treating therapist if a referral to IMEC is indicated.

Referrals should go to Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and refer to IMEC and if you have clinical questions, contact a Pediatric Rehabilitation physician through Physician Priority Link: 1-513–636–7997 or 1-888-636-7997.
