Javier Gonzalez del Rey Named Designated Institutional Official

Javier Gonzalez del Rey, MD MEd, has taken on the dual responsibilities of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

Javier is a professor in Emergency Medicine and has served as the associate DIO and vice chair of the GMEC for over a decade. He was also the program director of our pediatric residency program from 2001-2017.

He recently served as president of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, Chair of the Section on Pediatric Emergency Medicine at AAP, and was instrumental in helping Cincinnati Children’s win the ACGME and Arnold P. Gold Foundation DeWitt C. Baldwin, Jr. Award.

Thank to Tom DeWitt, MD, FAAP, for his twelve years of dedication to and leadership of GME as he transitions to associate DIO and vice chair of the GMEC, assisting Javier in his new leadership positions.
