Cincinnati Children’s Lipid Clinic Update

The Heart Institute offers one of the nation’s only dedicated pediatric lipid clinics. We see more than 700 patients with dyslipidemia every year.

As part of our comprehensive program patients will receive: 

• Diagnosis and treatment of disorders of cholesterol

• Screening for co-existing Hypertension risk for diabetes and lifestyle- or obesity-related target organ damage

• Nutritional education to teach families how to reduce dietary fat and cholesterol

• Three-day diet recall for computerized evaluation of dietary composition

When referring patients to the Lipid clinic:

• A FASTING lipid panel has been completed and meets criteria to refer. A non-fasting lipid panel will result in inaccurate results.

• Please include the referring lab work with referral. This lab work is needed to evaluate our patients.
