HealthVine and Epic Frequently Asked Questions for Primary Care Providers
What is HealthVine?
HealthVine is a network of pediatric care providers and organizations [backed by Cincinnati Children’s] that connect to help children be healthier, more effectively and affordably. Through the power of collaboration, and using our combined expertise, we coordinate care and support services for families that enable children to thrive by living their healthiest lives.
Which patients does HealthVine serve?
HealthVine is delegated Care Management and Quality Improvement for all CareSource patients ages 0-18 (or up to 21 in the ABD Program) living in Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland, Warren.
Why do I see multiple PCPs listed when I look at my CareSource patient chart in Epic Link?
When you view a CareSource patient in Epic Link, you may see the different types of PCPs listed below.
- General PCP should be YOU and is the official PCP of record for Cincinnati Children’s. The General PCP listed reflects the name provided by families at registration at Cincinnati Children’s.
- HealthVine PCP or RTE PCP may or may not be you. But do not worry! The HealthVine PCP is the result of an electronic upload directly from CareSource and will be used by the HealthVine team to manage the requirements of the HealthVine agreement between CareSource and Cincinnati Children’s. The RTE PCP is part of our electronic insurance verification system.
What is the difference between a General PCP, HealthVine PCP or RTE PCP?
HealthVine PCP or RTE PCP is a necessary administrative designation. In general, you can disregard it. The General PCP is the official PCP of record and will receive all communication that is generated from a patient encounter at Cincinnati Children’s.
Should the General PCP and the Healthvine PCP match? No, not always. We are finding that some of the information shared by CareSource is out of date and does not reflect the accurate PCP of record. We will continue to work toward reconciling the information from CareSource but will use the General PCP listed in the chart for communication about patient care encounters at Cincinnati Children’s.
What should I do if a parent asks to update the HealthVine PCP or RTE PCP?
Since the HealthVine/RTE PCP is generated by CareSource, the only way to update it is through CareSource. To do so, the patient’s parent or guardian should complete a PCP Change Form or call CareSource member service’s number at 1-833-230-2020.
We are working to identify additional pathways for correcting the HealthVine PCP, however, at this time the process must remain patient/member driven. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact HealthVine at (855) 422-8894.
What should I do if I notice the General PCP is listed incorrectly?
If the General PCP is not accurate, contact your Practice Liaison who can make the update. Practice Liaison’s contact information can be found here. This is an important update! Having the correct General PCP ensures accurate and timely communication pathway for patient encounters at Cincinnati Children’s.
