Epic Link use compliance- new software helps us protect patient information
Cincinnati Children’s has new software to help us with HIPAA compliance with employees and community practices who access charts via Epic Link. The software system helps ensure that medical records are accessible to those who need it while maintaining patient confidentiality.
As a reminder, if you need to access a family member’s medical record for a reason other than treatment purposes, please use MyChart. MyChart allows you to schedule follow-up visits with care providers and gives you access to your child’s medical records, allowing you to view test results, a list of medications, appointments, follow-up instructions, diagnoses and more. MyChart can be accessed via the MyChart website (mychart.cincinnatichildrens.org) or mobile app (available for download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play). You may also request medical record documentation from CCHMC’s Health Information Management (HIM) Department.
If you have any questions about CCHMC confidentiality policies and how they could impact you, please reach out to your Physician Liaison. We are happy to share our policy with you as a reference to develop you own if needed. As always, we appreciate your shared commitment to the privacy and security of our patients’ health information!
