Community Physician and Provider Survey coming soon
Every other year, community providers who practice in the local market are asked to share their thoughts and perceptions of their interactions with Cincinnati Children’s. Specifically, we want to hear about experiences accessing services for their patients and the communication received after a patient is referred or had in inpatient stay. The feedback is valuable and informs ongoing process improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
The most recent survey (2018) identified a communication gap for providers to ask non-urgent clinical questions. Since that time, CCHMC has piloted (and expanded) a HIPAA-compliant system called Physician e-Message. The secure e-mail system uses Epic Link In-Basket for 2-way communication between CCHMC divisions and community providers. It enables community providers to ask non-urgent clinical questions and get a response in 3 business days or less. Feedback during the pilot phase was positive and since then the number of divisions has doubled to 16 participating divisions. Our intention is to add more divisions in early 2021. For more information about Physician e-Message or Epic Link, please contact your Physician Liaison.
While there is additional work underway to address both access and communication, we always want to know what is currently on the mind of community docs. We hope you will take time to participate in the survey when you receive it. Please watch for it in your inbox in early November. It can be completed via computer or on your mobile device. We hope you will share your thoughts so we can continue to make improvements for you and the families we both serve.
