Meera Kotagal Recognized as “Forty Under 40” to Watch
Meera Kotagal, MD, MPH, got a welcome surprise last month. The pediatric surgeon and director of the Pediatric Surgery Global Health Program, was named to the Business Courier’s 2020 Class of “Forty Under 40.”
The honor recognizes executives and entrepreneurs from a range of industries who are “the next generation of leaders and innovators in Greater Cincinnati.”
Meera aptly fits that description.
She earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2009 and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Washington in 2016. During her residency, she completed a two-year research fellowship in surgical outcomes at the Surgical Outcomes Research Center there. She also pursued post-graduate training with a Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health in 2014. After her general surgery residency, she joined Cincinnati Children’s as a pediatric surgery fellow and became a full-time faculty member in November 2018.
As director of the Pediatric Surgery Global Health Program, Meera partners with a team of pediatric surgeons in Uganda, training the fellows there and strengthening their ability to provide care for kids with surgical diseases
