A Message from Executive Community Physician Shelly Voet

February 28, 2024

Hello! Happy Leap Day! Thanks for reading this issue which is very focused on education opportunities, as well as clinical service updates.

First, we have two important announcements from our colleagues in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. I am very grateful to the division director, Dr. Tanya Frohlich, and faculty members Drs. Jennifer Ehrhardt and Julia Anixt for their collaboration. Over the last several months, the division has developed a model for a new ECHO/telehealth program that will train primary care pediatricians to establish an ASD diagnosis within the medical home. The DDBP model was developed based on existing programs in other regions. The ECHO autism diagnostic program is in addition to the offering of a new one year mini-fellowship in general developmental disorders. Please take the time to review the materials in this issue and share it with PCPs you know who might be interested!

In addition to the DDBP education, this issue highlights several more within the Education Update section. These include Coffee with Colleagues on Asthma, and the Dermatology Intensive workshop on March 15. There are also two new Community Practice Support tools on Tickborne diseases and Lead Poisoning.

There are also important opportunities to give back in pediatric education. This is the time of year that our academic institutions recruit volunteer faculty to teach medical students and residents in pediatrics. If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to teach UC medical students or Cincinnati Children’s residents, contact Dr. Chris Peltier at chris.peltier@cchmc.org or complete the survey HERE. Opportunities to teach University of Kentucky College of Medicine third year medical students in pediatrics can be discussed with Rachel Cooper at Rachel.cooper@uky.edu.

Regarding service updates, CPAC has continued to have meetings with Cincinnati Children’s IS team and Clinisync to fine tune issues. Clinisync recommends you use a service ticket for any residual issues your practice is having with the information flow. We are also looking forward to meeting with Neonatology to discuss community plans for Beyfortus for fall 2024. More to come in future issues.

Finally, CPAC will begin to work with Dr. Sarah Corathers from the Division of Endocrinology this spring, in her new role of Associate Chief of Staff for the Ambulatory specialties, effective March 1. She succeeds Dr. Catherine Hart, who will continue her clinical practice in ENT. Thanks to Catherine for your work with CPAC, and we welcome you, Sarah!

Thanks for all you do,

Shelly
