Update on Transgender Care at Cincinnati Children’s

On January 24, the Ohio General Assembly overrode Governor DeWine’s veto of House Bill 68. The law will go into effect in late April and Cincinnati Children’s will follow all requirements.

Important notes include:

  • The Transgender Health Center at Cincinnati Children’s will remain open. There is a provision in the law that allows patients to continue treatment under certain circumstances.

  • Cincinnati Children’s will continue to see minors who need counseling and will provide services allowable by law.

  • There are no restrictions for patients over 18 (the Center sees young adults up to the age of 25).

We are proud of the exceptional care and compassion our Transgender Health Center team provides and are especially grateful for their commitment, advocacy and concern for patients and families throughout this legislative process.
