Covid Questions – When families ask “Does the Covid-19 Vaccine still work?”

The answer is yes.  The Covid Vaccine still does what it is supposed to do which is prevent serious disease and hospitalization:

  • Rate of Hospitalization from Covid-19 is 2-4 times higher in UNVACCINATED children

  • UNVACCINATED  children are 14 X more likely to get serious disease and be hospitalized than VACCINATED

  • UNVACCINATED children are 20 X more likely to get serious disease and be hospitalized than those who were VACCINATED AND BOOSTED.

  • COVID-19 vaccines provide better immunity than natural infection.

  • COVID-19 vaccines protect patients from severe acute illness, hospitalization, and death.

  • COVID-19 vaccines protect against secondary complications of COVID such as Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) and Post-COVID-19 Syndrome.

If a child has had COVID-19, it is still important to get them vaccinated. Natural immunity combined with vaccine immunity is very effective in protecting children from long-term complications. It is also the safest strategy for avoiding future SARS-CoV-2 infections.
