In Memorium: James Tweddell, MD - With great sadness we mourn the loss of James “Jim” Scott Tweddell, MD, Executive Co-Director of the Heart Institute and Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s, who passed away on July 1, 2022 after a battle with cancer. He was 62.

FAAN-C Trial Enrolling August 1st - The Follow-up Automatically vs As-Needed Comparison (FAAN-C, or “fancy”) trial compares the effectiveness of automatic versus as-needed follow-up among otherwise healthy children hospitalized for pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infection, UTI, or gastroenteritis.

CareSource Terminates Cincinnati Children’s from the Ohio Marketplace Plan - CareSource terminated the Marketplace plan with Cincinnati Children’s effective August 1st.  This does NOT impact CareSource patients with traditional Medicaid plans.  We are proactively reaching out to families currently getting care from Cincinnati Children’s who are impacted by this change.  If you are aware of patients in your practice who may need help and haven’t been contacted already, please reach out to your practice liaison.

New A1C Testing Options Available at Cincinnati Children's Hospital - Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center will now be offering two unique Hemoglobin A1C testing options.

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia- Definition and Treatment Update - Premature birth is the leading cause of neonatal intensive care unit admissions, with a high burden of disease and more than $13 billion in health care cost annually in the US.

Clinic Spotlight: OT/PT - Congenital Muscular Torticollis - In a recent publication, physical therapists in the Division of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy at Cincinnati Children’s described infants with congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) who change head presentation (i.e., head tilt, head rotation) over time.
