New Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Cheryl Bayart, Dermatology

Cheryl Bayart, MD, MPH, will be joining the Division of Dermatology as Assistant Professor of Dermatology in July and begin seeing patients in August.  Dr. Bayart will be expanding services to include laser services and skin excisions in the clinic setting and under general anesthesia. She will also lead a combined pediatric rheumatology-dermatology clinic.

Dr. Bayart earned her MD and MPH from University of Connecticut.  She completed an internship in pediatrics and residency in dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Bayart then completed a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Bayart was awarded the Women’s Dermatology Society mentorship award for 1 month of clinical training with procedural pediatric dermatology expert Dr. Annette Wagner at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Bayart looks forward to joining the growing dermatology division and serving the children and families of the community and region. 

Dr. Smruti Patel, Neurosurgery

Smruti K. Patel, MD will be joining the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery as an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery July 2021 following completion of her pediatric neurosurgery fellowship. She will be an instrumental addition to the clinical division during a time of significant growth. Her divisional focus will include assisting to establish a much needed transitional clinic for older patients with congenital neurosurgical conditions, as well as, addition of her skills to treat pediatric brain and spine disorders.

Dr. Patel earned her BA and MD degrees from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She completed her Neurosurgical residency at University of Cincinnati where she served as Chief Resident from 2018-2020. During that time she also authored 14 peer-reviewed publications and attended numerous national conferences to report research findings. Upon graduation she was awarded the Ellen and Stewart B. Dunsker MD award for Clinical Research for the second time during her residency, and the John M. Tew Jr. MD award for Neuro-Oncology. We look forward to having her join our growing Cincinnati Children’s Neurosurgery team.
