OTPT Transition Services: Thrive Program to Pilot Groups for Adolescents and Young Adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities
“Many young adults living with a developmental disability struggle to live independently, with only 15.7% of individuals reportedly living in independent housing arrangements” (Lulinski et al., n.d.). Services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) often taper off as they enter adolescence and young adulthood. To address this gap in care, the Division of OTPT developed the Transition Services Thrive Program. The Thrive Program aims to offer family-centered, group-based programming to adolescents with IDD ages 14 and up. Targeting specific life skills will help these individuals not just survive, but thrive in adulthood. Upcoming groups include Personal Safety & Relationship Care, Self-Care, and Community Outings. See below for a flyer for our next group.
Program Dates: Wednesdays for 6 weeks from 5:30-6:30 PM, November 2 – December 14 (no group 11/23/22)
