A Message from Executive Community Physician Shelly Voet
September 27, 2023
Hello! Thanks for reading Synapse. There is a lot to share this month!
Healthbridge to Clinisync Transition – If you read one paragraph in my letter, please read this one. If your practice receives or sends anything electronic (labs, referrals, notes) through your EHR, please ensure your practice is actively engaged in the next steps with Clinisync. In our Communications meeting this month, our regional physicians met with Phil Ennen, the COO of Clinisync. Phil informed us that engagement with individual practices has been slower than expected. He reminded us that any practice who sends or receives any electronic data could lose the ability to do this in January if their practice is not engaged now. If you have signed an agreement, CliniSync is offering webinars (REQUIRED for all new practices) on all Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 12:15pm-1:00pm and no advance registration is needed. These are video enabled calls using Microsoft Teams and you can connect by following the link CliniSync Webinar.
Nirsevimab – The AAP has recently updated their RSV Prevention guidance HERE to include ordering, dosing, coding, and administration guidance. At this time, local birth hospitals have not implemented a process for administering this to newborns, so parents of eligible infants may be asking for this at the practice level. CCHMC has placed an initial order for their primary care sites and other practices are actively discussing or planning their approach. CDC recommendations for pregnant mothers is HERE.
Return to Masking – You have likely read this in Weekly Vitals, but effective September 25, 2023, all CCHMC sites are at HEIGHTENED level of precautions which means they have returned to masking in public facing sites. This is based on increased circulation of respiratory viruses, particularly COVID-19. Patients and families are encouraged but not required to wear masks as well. Regionally, the adult hospital systems have not made this change at this time but are continuing to monitor data related to respiratory virus transmission.
DDBP – We shared in Weekly Vitals that effective this week, DDBP will be temporarily closed to NEW referrals for patients 6 and older. This change is necessary to provide evaluations for the significantly increased number referrals in younger children with ASD and Global Delay. This change does not affect existing DDBP patients over age 6 years or children who already have appointments scheduled. We will keep you updated if access opens again for the older children. In the meantime, DDBP produced this GUIDE on how to utilize community resources for this age group.
Resident-PCP Meet and Greet – This annual event is scheduled for October 10, 2023, at Sabin Auditorium beginning at 6 pm. It is not too late to RSVP to Kim Hunt at Kimberly.Hunt@cchmc.org to meet some of the residents interested in primary care.
Hospital Medicine – Save the Date for December 5, 2023, for a virtual Hospital Medicine update focused on asthma.
Thanks for all you do and stay safe and healthy out there!
