A Message from Executive Community Physician Shelly Voet

January 25, 2024

Happy cold start to the New Year! Thanks for taking the time to read Synapse. Here is a quick summary of the issue and events from this month.

Clinisync – The official transition has occurred from Healthbridge to Clinisync for HIE services. You can view the status of this transition at https://clinisync.org/swoprojects. Just so you know, our Community Practice Advisory Council has been working with Cincinnati Children’s and Clinisync to inform them of the issues that local community practices are having with information flow.  Read an update on the transition HERE.

Community Practice Advisory Council (CPAC) – Our CPAC welcomed our new Central Region Physician Leader this month, Dr. Emily Johnson, who replaces Dr. Betsy Lazaron (who has retired from clinical practice but is staying busy with advocacy and education 😊). Dr. Johnson is a Family Medicine physician working in the Timothy Freeman Center at UC. The Freeman Center provides patient centered primary care and consultive care for patients 18+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking forward to collaborating with Dr. Johnson and discussing the issue of pediatric transition more in 2024. Dr. Johnson will work closely with Kim Hunt, our Central Region physician liaison.

Alumni Advocacy – The advocacy work of CCHMC alumni physician Dr. Annie Andrews is highlighted in this issue, and we hope to share more on this topic in our next issue as well.

Cincinnati Pediatric Society membership drive is going on now. You can read in this issue about the benefits of being a CPS member and how to join.

CCHMC Service updates – A Speech and Language Pathology update is included in this issue.

Education – We are sharing educational opportunities for providers in multiple formats this month, including new Community Practice Support tools and Podcasts. Also, mark your calendars for the Dermatology Intensive on Friday, March 15. We are looking forward to a very practical, hands-on dermatology update from Dr. Kalyani Marathe and her team.

Thanks again for all you do!
