Our New CICU: Enhancements Enable Even Better Care - The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s is the home of the Midwest’s largest comprehensive Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), and soon they’ll have a new home in our new Critical Care Building (CCB) opening on November 6.

The New Emergency Department Provides Increased Space, Care and Convenience - Cincinnati Children’s new Emergency Department (ED) will have more space to care for patients, convenient access to essential medical services and upgraded state-of-the-art mental health treatment rooms.

Reminder – Changes to Radiology After-hours Walk-in Services - On October 4th, walk-in X-ray services at Burnet Campus (Location B1) changed to a schedule of 6am-9pm M-F, 6:30am-3pm Saturday and 10am-2pm Sunday. Radiology and Medical Imaging at Cincinnati Children’s Burnet Campus will be gaining new space within the Emergency Department when the new Critical Care Building (CCB) opens on November 6th.

Preparing for Vaccination of 5 – 11 Year Old Children - As this issue of Synapse is deployed the final FDA approval to vaccinate 5 – 11 year old children is imminent. There are already a number of available resources available to assist providers in ordering, administering, and preparing to vaccinate this age group. Much of this information can be found on the Cincinnati Children’s Covid-19 website for PCP’s, which can be accessed directly HERE. This site will be updated frequently as new information is provided. Please check it frequently for the most current information.

Urgent Text Notifications- Sign-up Now Available - Do you want to receive same-day URGENT TEXT notifications from Children’s? Community providers and their staff can now Opt-In to a new Urgent Message Notification System. The system allows us to communicate same-day, urgent information using SMS text messaging.

Annual Ohio AAP Virtual Meting: Oct 29-30 - This year’s theme is Picking Up the Pieces of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and registration is FREE to attend for Ohio AAP members. There is still time to register to learn the latest on vaccinations, Covid-19, obesity, LGBTQ+, emergent GI issues, and preserving the Medical Home.

Steve Davis, MD, to Head Cincinnati Children’s - Cincinnati Children’s marks a new chapter in its history with the announcement that Steve Davis, MD, MMM, MS, will succeed Michael Fisher as president and CEO, effective Nov. 22. Davis has served as the institution’s Chief Operating Officer since September 2015 and has been a key leader in the planning and construction of the Critical Care Building, increasing accessibility to care (e.g., HealthVine, CincyKids Health Connect), our response to the COVID pandemic and more.
